A London & North Western Railway locomotive nameplate, HENRY CORT, LNWR CREWE WORKS, APRIL 1909, from an Experiment Class 4-6-0 built at Crewe, Works No 4831, running number 1413, in April 1909 and named after a Lancaster born iron founder (1740-1800) who developed a process for converting pig iron into wrought iron. It was withdrawn on 15 September 1925 without having received its intended LMS No 5515 and cut up at Crewe Works. Engraved brass, length 55¾", unpolished, the back stamped L2 and in untouched condition. (Postage Band: N/A)
