A South African Railways cabside numberplate, E57, from a 3ft 6ins gauge Class 1E Bo-Bo electric locomotive designed by Metropolitan-Vickers and built by the Swiss Locomotive & Machine Works, Works No 2931. at Winterthur in 1923, one of the first batch of a class which eventually numbered 172 locos. Most were withdrawn around 1990. Cast brass, 21 ¾"x14 ½", the front repainted.
