A worksplate, REBUILT BY HUDSWELL CLARKE & Co LTD, RAILWAY FOUNDRY, LEEDS, 1900, from a standard gauge 0-6-0PT built by Kitson, works number 2509 of 1883 and new to The Consett Iron Co Ltd, County Durham. Numbered A No 5 it worked at various locations on the company's extensive system. It was rebuilt by Hudswell, Clarke in 1900 and passed to the National Coal Board in 1947, latterly based at Derwenthaugh shed, Swalwell. Passed into preservation in 1970 and currently with Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums, Stephenson Steam Railway, Chirton, Northumberland. Engraved brass, 10¾"x6½", the front lightly polished.
