A worksplate, KITSON & Co LIMITED, 1918, LEEDS. Kitson built thirty-six engines in 1918, works numbers 5183 to 5218, four for the Furness Railway, the remainder Robinson Great Central type 2-8-0s built to Ministry of Munitions order for the Railway Operating Division of the Royal Engineers, ROD Nos 1601-32, so this plate is most likely to be from one of the ROD engines. Engraved brass, 10¾"x6½", ex loco condition, retaining the original bolts. (Postage Band: B)
