A smokebox numberplate, 40420, from a Midland Railway 483 Class, LMS Class 2P, 4-4-0, MR/LMS No 420, BR 40420, built at Derby in 1916. Allocated to Nottingham by January 1935 and later Derby, Llandudno Junction, Crewe North, Rugby, Warwick, Northampton, Preston, Rhyl and Kentish Town from where it was withdrawn on 17 November 1958. Despatched to Doncaster Works on 23 August 1960 for cutting up. Ex loco condition. (Postage Band: D)
