A nameplate RAIL RIDERS and its badge from a BR Class 47 No D 1505 built by Brush Traction, Works No 347 and allocated new to Finsbury Park in January 1963. It was renumbered 47 406 in January 1974 and named on 10 December 1981 at Newcastle Central station by a schoolboy competition winner to mark the launch of a promotional club formed by BR for younger travellers. The badge was added on 12 November 1985 to mark an increase in membership numbers. The plates were removed in May 1988 and transferred to 47 488 where they were carried for a further four years before being removed after the club was discontinued. Cast aluminium, 39½"x9¾", the badge 12" diameter, ex loco condition, a minor score mark at the top of the first letter. (Postage Band: N/A)
