A worksplate ANDREW BARCLAY Rebuilt 6718 of 1987. From a standard gauge 0-6-0 diesel-hydraulic locomotive. Built as Andrew Barclay 584 of 1973 and new to the National Coal Board, South Hetton Colliery, County Durham. Later worked at other collieries in County Durham until 1985 when it was transferred to Whittle Colliery, Northumberland. In March 1987 it was sent to Andrew Barclay at Kilmarnock for rebuilding and the 6718 plates fitted at this time. Returned from Barclays in February 1988 to Ellington South Coal Preparation Plant, Northumberland. It was again repaired by Hunslet-Barclay at Kilmarnock in 1990 under works number 6917. In 1994 the Ellington plant was privatised by RJB Mining Ltd who also took over the locomotives. In 1997 6718 was transferred to RJB Mining’s Harworth Stores, Nottinghamshire and subsequently scrapped. Cast aluminium, 10"x8", the front repainted. (Postage Band: B)
