A locomotive nameplate, ZANZIBAR, from a LMS 6P Jubilee Class 4-6-0 No 5638 built at Crewe in 1934 and named in April 1936. Renumbered BR 45638 and allocated to Longsight in 1948. Withdrawn from Warrington Arpley in March 1964 and scrapped the following month at Crewe Works. Zanzibar is a Tanzanian archipelago of the coast of East Africa. The only LMS nameplate with two letter Zs in the name. Cast brass, length 28¾", the front repainted. This is the right-hand plate, with two punch marks in the back.
