A worksplate, BEYER PEACOCK, 7855, 1957, MANCHESTER, BUILT UNDER SUB-CONTRACT BY NORTH BRITISH LOCO Co GLASGOW, from a 3ft 6in gauge Class GMAM 4-8-2 + 2-8-4 Beyer-Garratt new to the South African Railways as No 4140. The North British Locomotive Co allocated their own Works No 27792. They were the last class of Garratt to see regular service on the SAR and were withdrawn by the mid 1980's. Cast brass, 13¾" x6¾", the front repainted. (Collect from Banbury Depot/Posted by Woodford Halse Office)
