A nameplate, GLORIOUS, from a BR Class 50 diesel electric D433 built by English Electric/Vulcan Foundry, Works Nos 3803/D1174, and allocated new to LM-Stoke Division in August 1968. Renumbered 50033 in April 1974 and named in June 1978 after the Royal Navy cruiser launched in 1916, rebuilt as an aircraft carried and sunk in 1940. Withdrawn from Laira in March 1994, it became part of the National Collection, based at the NRM at York, and is currently based at the Severn Valley Railway. Cast aluminium, 39¾"x9¾", ex loco condition. A letter confirming the sale of the plate and its authenticity accompanies this lot. (Postage Band: N/A)
