£100
An East African Railways cabside numberplate, 2705, from a 27th Class metre gauge 2-8-2, one of a group of ten or so purchased second-hand by East African Railways from India in the 1970s, taken from Indian Railways Class YG and overhauled at Castle Rock Works in Madras prior to shipping. On arrival in Africa they were allocated to Tanzania but seem to have seen very little service prior to withdrawal, probably in the early 1980s. Cast brass, 27¼"x8¾", the front repainted.
