A worksplate, MANNING WARDLE, LEEDS, ENGLAND, 2006, 1921, from a standard gauge 0-6-0ST new to the Bombay Port Trust, their No 6, used on the Anik Quarry line. It returned to the UK in the late 1920s and hired from T.W.Ward by the British Sugar Corporation and then bought from Wards in 1938 for use at their Wissington factory in Norfolk, becoming Wissington Light Railway No 17. Scrapped on site in 1965. This is the MW Export style plate including the word ENGLAND, rare to find on a UK light railway engine. Cast brass, 11"x6", the front repainted; from the Jones of Hadleigh Collection and accompanied by photographs and original letters relating to the handover of the plate. (Postage Band: B)
