A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Co, HYDE PARK WORKS, 24618, 1940, from a LMS Class 8F 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Supply order for the War Department in August 1940, WD No 318/70318. Following loans to the LMS and GWR it was returned to the WD in January 1941 and despatched to Persia (Iran) becoming their No 41.117. On returning to the UK it was taken into BR stock as No 48250. It spent most of working life at Crewe South and Bescot before finishing its days at Agecroft from where it was withdrawn in April 1966 and sold for scrap to Cashmores at Great Bridge. Cast brass, 7¾" diameter, the front repainted. (Postage Band: B)
