A locomotive nameplate, EARLESTOWN, from the London & North Western Railway Special Tank 0-6-0ST built at Crewe, Works No 2308, in October 1879, LNWR No 2359. In May 1881 it went to the Wagon Department at Earlestown when it received its name. In June 1936 it went to the LMS Carriage Department at Wolverton, retaining its name, and additionally became CD8 in 1938. It was withdrawn in October 1957 when this plate was acquired by Henry Edwin Kemp MBE who was Works Manager at Horwich and Earlestown. Cast brass 36"x6", the letters lightly polished.
