A worksplate, LMS, BUILT 1943, GWR, from a LMS Class 8F 2-8-0 No 8409 built by the GWR at Swindon to Railway Executive Committee order, becoming BR 48409. Allocated new to Newton Abbot on 8 September 1943 and later Kirkby, Toton, Nottingham, Hereford, Swansea Paxton Street and Llanelly before finishing its days at Bath Green Park, working on the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway, from where it was withdrawn on 26 March 1965. The plate was purchased from Cashmores at Newport in June 1965. Cast brass, 10½"x6", the front repainted. (Postage Band: B)
