A locomotive nameplate, GUILLEMOT, from a LNER Gresley A4 Class 4-6-2 No 4465 built at Doncaster, Works No 1867, ex Works in January 1938, and named after a seabird which nests on steep ledges and cliffs. Renumbered 20 in 1946, it became BR 60020. It spent all its working life at Gateshead, apart from eleven months at Heaton in 1944/5. Withdrawn in March 1964, it was cut up at Darlington Works. This plate was acquired by the vendor's late husband from BR and remains untouched ever since. Cast brass, length 57½".
