A smokebox numberplate, 44479, from a LMS Class 4F 0-6-0 No 4479 built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 23648, in 1927. It spent almost all its BR days at Lower Darwen from where it was withdrawn in May 1964 and sold for scrap to Central Wagon Co at Ince Wigan. The front repainted. (Postage Band: D)
