A locomotive nameplate, ROBERT H SELBIE, from the Metropolitan Railway Class G, LNER Class M2, 0-6-4T built by Yorkshire Engine Co, Works No 1284, in January 1916, MR No 95, and named after the Company's General Manager. The MR with its locos was absorbed into the London Passenger Transport Board in 1933 and the Board agreed with the LNER that the latter would work all the former MR goods services and its passenger services north of Rickmansworth where electric services terminated. Consequently this loco and other MR steam locos were sold to the LNER in 1937 and No 95, which had retained its MR number under the LPTB, became LNER No 6155. It was renumbered 9076 under the LNER's 1946 renumbering scheme and was allocated the BR number 69076 but was withdrawn in October 1948 without this number being applied. Cast brass, 64" wide at the base, centre height 19", in ex loco condition. STEAM NAMEPLATE SPECIAL: Buy a main line steam nameplate and we can deliver it to you promptly, free of charge. This offer applies to addresses in England, Scotland and Wales. Should you be successful in purchasing this lot, we are happy to accept items against nameplates purchased. Please phone the office to discuss.
