A smokebox numberplate, 2287, from a GWR 2251 Class 0-6-0 built at Swindon in January 1936. It enjoyed an interesting career, allocated to Brecon from 1949 until 1959, then moving to Templecombe on the Somerset & Dorset, then Machynlleth and Oswestry where it worked on former Cambrian lines. It finished its days at Gloucester from where it was withdrawn in May 1965 and sold for scrap to Birds at Risca. Repainted. (Postage Band: D)
