A locomotive nameplate, BAMBA, with matching smokebox numberplate and further plate, 3113, from an East African Railways metre gauge Tribal Class 31 2-8-4 built by Vulcan Foundry, Works No 6240, in 1955 and named after a Bantu ethnic tribe. These plates were owned by the distinguished photographer Roger Bamber. Cast brass, length 27¼"x6¾", the smokebox 17½"x6½", the fronts repainted. Together with a further plate, 3113, cast iron, very rusty, 17½"x6¾", the individual numbers riveted to a backplate, one '3' detached, the other lifted due to rusting of the backplate.
