A worksplate KERR, STUART 3066 of 1917. From a standard gauge 0-6-0 side tank with outside cylinders. The first of ten €˜Victory' class built by Kerr, Stuart for military service with the Inland Waterways & Docks as their number 10. Taken over by the Railway Operating Department as ROD 609. Delivered to Richborough Port in Kent and subsequently saw service in France. Sold in 1919 to Powell Duffryn Ltd for use on their Aberaman Colliery & Railways in South Wales and numbered 18. Passed to the National Coal Board in 1947 and moved to Penrikyber Colliery around December 1964, returning to Aberaman in late 1967. Out of use by 1969 and scrapped around the end of 1971 by which time it was the last of the €˜Victory' class in existence. Cast brass, 12¾"x6¾", the front repainted. (Postage Band: C)
