A locomotive nameplate, KENILWORTH, from a Peppercorn A1 Class 4-6-2 No 60124 built at Doncaster in March 1949, Works No 2041, and named after one of Sir Walter Scott's Waverley novels, perpetuating the name carried by a North British Railway D30 Class 4-4-0. Always a North Eastern section engine, it was allocated new Gateshead and later Heaton, York and Darlington from where it was withdrawn in March 1966 and sold for scrap to Drapers at Hull. Cast brass, 57½", the front repainted, the back shows the names of a number of other Pacifics with nameplates of the same length.
