A smokebox numberplate, 2298, from a GWR 2251 Class 0-6-0 built at Swindon in June 1938. A long time Machynlleth engine sub-shedded at Aberystwyth, it moved in July 1962 to Ebbw Junction where it spent a final eighteen months, the last twelve in store, before withdrawal in December 1963 and sale for scrap to Birds at Risca.
