A worksplate, DAVENPORT LOCOMOTIVE WORKS USA 2503 of 1943. From a standard gauge 0-6-0 tank, Class S100, 382 of which were built for the United States Army Transportation Corps. Most were shipped to Europe to help with the war effort and later sold to main-line railways and industrial users in various European countries and beyond. This locomotive carried the USATC number 1938 and was sold in July 1947 to the Austin Motor Company Ltd for use at their Longbridge Works, Birmingham where it was named ADA II. Scrapped there in December 1957. Cast iron, 12¾"x7½", repainted, loss at the outer edge of the lower left fixing. (Postage Band: C)
