A nameplate, SIR JOSHUA REYNOLDS, from a BR Class 47 No D1605/47028/47559 built by BR Crewe in July 1964 and allocated new to Landore. Named at a Laira open day in April 1982 by the winner of a local competition, the nameplates removed in December 1991. Withdrawn from Crewe in January 2003 and cut up by Ron Hull Junior at Rotherham in January 2008. 72"x10" in ex loco condition. Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-92) was a renowned English portrait painter with strong west country links and he was the first president of the Royal Academy in 1768. The nameplate is accompanied by a watercolour painting of the locomotive, by Johnathan Grey, 10"x7", mounted and framed, overall 17"x14". (Dispatch by Mailboxes/Collect from Banbury Depot)
