A worksplate NASMYTH WILSON 976 of 1912 from a standard gauge 0-6-0 saddle tank new to the 3rd Earl of Ellesmere and named ELLESMERE. Used on his extensive colliery railways around Manchester. Later became Bridgewater Collieries Ltd and eventually Manchester Collieries Ltd, the locomotive working on the central section of their system. Taken over by the National Coal Board in January 1947. Withdrawn and partly scrapped late in 1956 although the frames were not disposed of until 1963. Cast brass, 14¼"x5½", ex loco condition. (Postage Band: B)
