A nameplate EAGLE from a Northern Ireland Railways 5ft 3ins gauge 101 Class Bo-Bo diesel electric No 101 ordered from Hunslet Engine Co, Works No 7197, with traction equipment by English Electric but sub-contracted to BREL's Doncaster Works as Hunslet were unable to fulfil the order. The first of three locos built for use with the Enterprise passenger services between Belfast and Dublin, all perpetuated the names of GNR(I) 4-4-0 Class V engines. Although only ten years old they were replaced by 111 Class diesels towards the end of the 1970s. This and sister engine No 102 were acquired by the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland and it was used for spare parts for No 102 until its remains were cut up in 2010. Cast brass, 22"x5½", the front repainted. (Postage Band: D)
