A nameplate THAMES with matching worksplate MANNING WARDLE 1552 of 1902. From a 3ft 6in gauge 0-4-0ST new to the London County Council for use on the Northern Outfall Sewer widening between Barking and Old Ford. Sold to dealer J. Stiff & Son of London in 1908 which resold it in 1909 to B. Fayle & Co. They converted it to 3ft 9in gauge for use at their Norden Clay Mines, Corfe Castle, Dorset. Sold for scrap in September 1948. The worksplate is unusual in having a full stop after the works number. The nameplate cast brass, length 22¾", the worksplate cast brass, 11"x6", both in ex loco condition.
