A worksplate SUPER-SENTINEL LOCOMOTIVE No 8837. From a standard gauge 4-wheel vertical boiler locomotive new to the LNER in December 1933, Class Y-1, Service Stock locomotive number 59 for use at Darlington Geneva Permanent Way Yard. Renumbered 8153 in 1946 and 68153 in 1951. Finally Departmental No 54 in October 1954. Withdrawn in June 1961 and sold in September to The Middleton Railway, Leeds where it still operates. Cast brass, 5¼"x10", lightly cleaned. (Postage Band: C)
