A worksplate, AVONSIDE ENGINE CO LTD, BRISTOL, 1926, ENGINE No 1984, from a 2ft gauge 0-4-0T which went new to the Reynolds Bros Esperanza Sugar Mill tramway on the south coast of Natal, South Africa, their No 3. The tramway started in 1872 and ran between the Sugar Mill five miles up the Umzinto Valley to the sugar cane plantations. It was the last sugar cane tramway system in the area to operate steam locomotives and the last to close in February 1970. Cast brass, 10¾"x6½", ex loco condition. (Postage Band: B)
