An industrial locomotive nameplate, PILTON, and its matching worksplate, AVONSIDE ENGINE Co 1832 of 1919, from a standard gauge 0-6-0 saddle tank new to the Pilton Ironstone Co. for use at their Pilton quarries, Rutland. Subsequently taken over by Staveley Minerals Ltd, the quarries closed for production in June 1969 and the locomotive moved the following November to George Cohen Sons & Co Ltd, Cransley, Northamptonshire for scrap. The nameplate cast brass, length 25¾", the front repainted, the worksplate 10¾"x6½", the front repainted. (2) (Postage Band: D)
