A South Shields, Marsden and Whitburn Railway warning notice, entering or alighting while train is moving. The railway ran east from South Shields serving collieries and other industry. Regular passenger services were provided until closure in 1953. Having passed into NCB ownership in 1947, it became the first nationalised passenger line in the country. The notice is enamel, 16½"x13", presented in a wooden frame, some edge chipping affecting one word of the title and the name of the manufacturer, otherwise excellent condition.
