A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 1242, DARLINGTON, 1909, from a NER D21 Class 4-4-0 No 1242 built at Darlington in June 1909. Its only sheds were Starbeck and Neville Hill from where it was withdrawn in January 1946 and cut up at Darlington Works. It was allocated the number 2220 under the 1946 renumbering scheme but this was never carried. Cast brass, 9"x5", ex loco condition, though a loss at the centre base, probably when removed in the scrapyard. (Postage Band: C)
