A Great Northern Railway tenderplate, 1098. Tenders built by the GNR up to December 1900 were numbered the same as the engines for which they were built. Engine No 1098 was a Class J4 0-6-0 built by Dubs & Co, Works No 3553, in February 1898, becoming LNER J3 Class No 4098 and withdrawn in May 1933. Cast brass, 7"x4", cleaned but unpainted.
