A nameplate, EPSOM, with SCHOOLS CLASS appendage below, from a Southern Railway V Class 4-4-0 No 937 built at Eastleigh and named after the independent school on Epsom Downs now known as Epsom College, becoming BR 30937. In BR days it was allocated mainly to Stewarts Lane and Bricklayers Arms with spells towards the end at Dover, Ashford, and Nine Elms from where it was withdrawn in December 1962 and scrapped at Eastleigh Works. Cast brass, length 31¼". The plate is accompanied by a framed plate from Epsom School referring to the presentation by British Railways in 1963. The school sold the plate some years ago.
