A worksplate, GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY Co, MAKERS, DONCASTER, No 727, 1897, from a GNR D2 Class 4-4-0 No 1075 built in June 1897 and rebuilt and re-classified to D3 in August 1916. It was renumbered 4075 by the LNER and was temporarily renumbered No 1 in October 1944 prior to being given special treatment, including fully lined green livery, for hauling officers' saloons and special trains and the number 2000, which special number it retained until renumbered by BR as 62000 in January 1950, one of only three D3s to received a BR number. It was withdrawn from Grantham in October 1951, the last of the class to be condemned. Cast brass, 12¼"x7¼", the front repainted. (Postage Band: C)
