An LNER emergency block instrument, constructed at the Leytonstone signal works. This type of instrument was to be used during the second world war in the event of the lines into Liverpool Street being closed due to enemy action, enabling LNER traffic to be operated over the LPTB lines into central London. The instrument comprises a pair of tappers, sounding bars, and an indicator above. 10¼"x18", height 17½", painted wooden body, original condition. (Dispatch by Mailboxes/Collect from Banbury Depot)
