A nameplate, BALMORAL, from the Peppercorn A1 Class 4-6-2 No 60140 built at Darlington, Works No 2059, and named after the Royal residence near Ballater. Allocated new to York on 24 December 1948. it moved to Kings Cross the following year before returning in June 1950 to York from where it was withdrawn on 11 January 1965 and sold for scrap to Drapers at Hull. Cast brass, length 50", the front repainted, the back shows the names of other locomotives with plates of the same length, Mallard, Pochard, etc. (See also next Lot)
