A South African Railways cabside numberplate, 4161, from a 3ft 6ins gauge Class GMAM 4-8-2+2-8-4 Beyer Garratt built by Henschel, Works No 29620, in 1958. Together with its licence plate, HENSCHEL & Co, 1958, BUILT UNDER LICENCE FROM BEYER GARRATT, also its Henschel worksplate, 29620, 1958. These ubiquitous engines saw service on most secondary lines in South Africa. They were the last class of Garratt in service with the SAR and were being withdrawn from regular service in 1984. All cast brass, the cabside 20¾"x14½", cleaned and the front repainted, the licence plate 13½"x6¾", cleaned and the front repainted, the worksplate 11½"x5¾", cleaned but unpainted.
