An LSWR medallion, ENGINEMEN AND FIREMEN'S PROTECTION FUND, ESTABLISHED FEBY 1882, brass/enamel, 1¼" diameter, an early example. The fund was a railway company sponsored organisation which was probably formed to compete with the ASLEF Union which was formed in 1880. (Postage Band: A)
