A worksplate, MANNING, WARDLE, 1057, 1888, from a standard gauge 0-4-0ST new to the contractor T.A. Walker for the Manchester Ship Canal construction and named MASSEY. Sold in 1893 to the Wantage Tramway Co. Ltd, Oxfordshire where it became No 7 and was known unofficially as MARY. The Tramway closed in December 1945 and the locomotive sold on 25th April 1946 to dealers A. R. Adams & Son, Newport, Monmouthshire. Initially kept at Wantage and hired to George Cohen, Sons & Co. Ltd, who had the tracklifting contract for the Wantage Tramway. On completion of this work it was taken to Adams Newport Yard and sold in 1947 to Cordes (Dos Works) Ltd, for use at their foundry in Newport. This works closed in 1962 and the locomotive was scrapped on site in December 1963. Engraved brass, 11"x6", the front lightly polished. (Postage Band: B)
