A smokebox numberplate, 63656, from a Robinson Great Central Railway type 2-8-0 built to Ministry of Munitions order by Kitson & Co, Works No 5203, in June 1918 for the Railway Operating Division of the Royal Engineers, ROD No 1617. Loaned to the Great Western Railway in December 1919 as their No 3068, it was returned to the ROD in August 1922 and stored at Beachley. Acquired by the LNER in December 1923, it became their No 6363 and was renumbered 3656 in 1946 becoming BR 63656. Its BR sheds were Mexborough, Langwith Junction, Retford, Barnsley and Staveley from where it was withdrawn in November 1962 and cut up at Doncaster Works. Repainted. (Postage Band: D)
