A locomotive nameplate, FLYING DUTCHMAN, from the BR Standard Class 7 4-6-2 No 70018 built at Crewe and allocated new to Old Oak Common in June 1951, moving to Cardiff Canton in December 1956 where it was a frequent performer on The Red Dragon. It spent its later years at Carlisle Canal, Longsight, Crewe North, Crewe South, Carlisle Kingmoor and Carlisle Upperby from where it was withdrawn in December 1966 and sold for scrap to Motherwell & Scrap Co at Wishaw. Arguably the finest of the Britannia names. Cast brass, length 57½", the front repainted.
