A nameplate, HINTON MANOR, from the GWR 7800 Manor Class 4-6-0 No 7819 built at Swindon in February 1939 and named after the 16th Century manor house in the village of Hinton Waldrist, west of Abingdon in Oxfordshire. A regular performer on the Cambrian Coast Express, it spent most of its working life at Oswestry before moving towards the end to Machynlleth and Shrewsbury from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 6 November 1965 and sold for scrap to Woodham Bros at Barry on 16 December 1965. It was rescued from Barry for preservation in 1973 and went to the Severn Valley Railway where it was restored to full working order, although it has been on static display at the Swindon Designer Outlet since 2007. Ex loco condition. The plate is accompanied by the original Swindon sales documents. STEAM NAMEPLATE SPECIAL: Buy a main line steam nameplate and we can deliver it to you promptly, free of charge. This offer applies to addresses in England, Scotland and Wales.
We are happy to accept entries for future sales against nameplates purchased and can collect when making delivery. Please phone the office to discuss.
