A Spanish cabside numberplate, 242F.2005. From a Spanish State Railways (RENFE) 5ft 6ins gauge 4-8-4 built by Maquinista, Terrestre y Maritima, Works No 699, in 1956. Officially known as Confederacions, they were more commonly known as Los Verdes due to their green livery. The fastest, largest and most modern of all Spanish steam classes, they lasted until about 1971 on expresses through Miranda del Ebro, their last shed. The F in the number is for Fuelizado or oil-firing. Cast brass, 22¾"x7", the front repainted. (Postage Band: D)
