A front numberplate JS 5617 from a Chinese JS 2-8-2 class loco built at Dalian in 1959. The loco was latterly based at Dandong depot. The characters for Jianshe (lit. "construction", here referring to building socialism) precede the number. The corn motif at the left hand side represents agriculture and a stylised gear wheel on the right hand side represents industry. A number of JS Class locos carried these plates. Repainted. Cast iron, 50"x15", very heavy. (Dispatch by Mailboxes/Collect from Banbury Depot)
