A worksplate, LONDON NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 4899, DARLINGTON, 1942, from a LNER V2 Class 2-6-2 No 4899 built at Darlington in January 1942. It was initially allocated the number 838 under the 1946 renumbering scheme but was instead given the number 938 and became BR 60938. Allocated new to Doncaster, its later sheds were New England and March before finishing its days back at Doncaster from where it was withdrawn in October 1962 and cut up at the nearby Works. Fully engraved brass, 13"x7½", the front lightly polished, the back stamped 938. (Postage Band: C)
