A worksplate, LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY, 8665, REBUILT STRATFORD WORKS 1923, from a LNER J68 Class 0-6-0T No 39 built at Stratford Works in November 1923, renumbered 7039 in 1926 and 8665 in 1947, becoming BR 68665. It spent all its working life at Stratford from where it was withdrawn on 7 December 1959 and cut up at Stratford Works. It was not unusual for Stratford to fit rebuilt plates where the date shown was the actual building date. Cast brass, 9"x5", the front repainted. (Postage Band: B)
