A worksplate, BERLINER MASCHINENBAU, 9651, 1929, from an Indian Railways metre gauge class YB 4-6-2 No 420, supplied originally to Eastern Bengal Railway and named L.A.BOURDILLON. It was later in the stock of the Bengal & Assam Railway from 1942 and is recorded as being one of the BAR engines that went to East Pakistan (later Bangladesh) at Partition in 1947. As, however, this plate was obtained in India much later, it is likely that it was on a boiler exchanged with another class YB before 1947. Cast brass, 6"x4", the front cleaned. (Postage Band: B)
