A worksplate, NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE Co, HYDE PARK, 24547, 1939, from a New Zealand Government Railways J Class 4-8-2 No 1224 which entered service in February 1940. The class was built with streamlined casing, removed between 1948 and 1953. This loco was converted to oil firing in December 1949 at Hutt Shops and re-classified to Class Jb, written off in August 1967 and subsequently scrapped. Cast brass, 7¾" diameter, the front lightly cleaned but unpainted. (Postage Band: B)
